Availability
Do I have openings? YES! I do have a couple of openings at the moment. They go quick, so if you’re interested in a session get on it!
I am usually available on weekdays, with occasional evening appointments. I have virtual and in-person availability right now.
Will She Judge Me???
Hell no. I’m approachable, friendly, nonjudgmental, and fucking caring as hell. Plus, I’m good at therapy.
Consistency
Attending sessions consistently is really important to your goals. I STRONGLY suggest weekly sessions on the same day and time each week. This is an investment in your wellness, and you are worth the effort of consistency. When given at least 48 hours’ notice I am happy to reschedule or cancel a session. If a session is canceled within 48 hours of the appointment, the full fee ($180) will be charged.
Length of Treatment
The length of treatment generally depends on how intense and long-lived your symptoms are. After our first session, I can give you a more accurate idea of how long we’ll be seeing each other.
I typically work with individuals that have been experiencing the same thought and behavioral patterns for most of their lives, and who have seen other counselors without getting the results that they are looking for. Learning new ways to thrive in our bodies and minds takes time. Some clients are “stuck” in their patterns due to being hurt in the past, and it can take time to unravel and build new patterns.
For clients with strong feelings focused around one concern (body image, for example, without intense trauma or other mental health struggles), treatment could be a few months long.
First Appointment
The first appointment will last between 50 minutes and an hour. Be prepared to talk about the symptoms that you’ve been experiencing and what you’d like to get out of counseling. I require payment method on file before the session. I’ll also send you a link for the session if it is virtual, or the address if we’re meeting in-person.
I will introduce myself, tell you about the counseling process, ask you about symptoms and what you would like to work on in counseling, give you an idea about what treatment would look like, and answer any questions that you have. Then we decide if we are a good fit and if we would like to continue working together.
Health At Every Size
I follow the Health At Every Size (HAES) model, which asserts that health comes in a variety of body types, including fat bodies. Seems obvious, right? I’m all about helping those in larger bodies LOVE and appreciate their bodies, step out of the shadows, and speak up for themselves. You absolutely deserve a vibrant life without changing your body, and fuck everyone who can’t support you in that.
My thing is helping those with larger bodies work through shame and internalized hate and find self-confidence, self-love, a new relationship with their body, and great sex!
Do I See a Counselor?
Hell yeah, therapy is awesome. I am all about engaging in growth and wellness. I have an amazing therapist that I see once a week, and to keep my clinical skills shining like new I have a monthly EMDR (trauma) consultation team and a weekly DBT consultation team. I want to be a kick-ass counselor, and that takes work. It helps that I fucking love the work.
