Fees & Insurance
Fees
My standard rate for counseling is $180 per 45-50 minute session. Occasionally clients may want to have longer sessions for EMDR trauma reprocessing, and my standard rate will be prorated.
I currently take Cigna, Aetna, and Optum/United Healthcare insurances.
I do not provide discounts for sessions shorter than 45 minutes.
Case management activities will be prorated to the nearest 5 minutes.
Insurance and Out-of-Network Benefits
I currently take Cigna, Optum/United Health Care, and Aetna, and bill claims to them on my client’s behalf. I use Alma to verify my client’s benefits before we start counseling so that we know for sure that my services are covered and what your deductible and copay/co-insurance will be.
For those that are Out-of-Network, I use Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. I use Mentaya to verify out-of-network benefits before we have our first session so we know about any deductibles and how much your insurance is willing to reimburse you for out-of-network claims. Mentaya is helpful because it files claims and handles the insurance paperwork rather than the client having to do it themselves. They charge a 5% fee per claim and generally get around 70% back per claim. The goal is to save you time and money. It's completely optional, and as your therapist I do not benefit in any way from your participation.
If knowing what your insurance will cover impacts whether or not you seek counseling with me, please contact your insurance company to learn about your benefits and out-of-pocket expenses, deductible, copays, and/or coinsurance before reaching out to me.
$$$ Philosophy
I run my practice this way because I want you to have a therapist that takes care of herself, remembers your life details, and is kicking ass in sessions daily so that you get stellar results. For this to happen I need to afford to be able to eat well and work with a smaller number of clients. In addition to having a stable income, I want to work with people who are ready to work on themselves, who will invest in their wellness, and who value that I am a whole human that practices what she preaches.
Therapy is going to be more effective if you invest money in your growth, come weekly to keep up the momentum, try the things we talk about, and understand that this is my passion and business. I want to invest in my own wellness, which means being able to predict my income, have free time for reading, video games, walks in the park, and game nights, and have enough to pay my bills and buy my baby niece the cute outfits that she deserves.
